Fort Worth’s First Board Game Lounge Opens in Near Southside

Jul 30, 2019

In late July, Game Theory held their Grand Opening party in South Main Village. Including more than 500 games and creative food and drink options, this board game lounge is the vision of husband-wife duo Patrick Lai and Erika Ramos.

After a work trip to Toronto, Patrick and Erika were inspired to open a board game establishment. They traveled across Canada and the US to learn from other board game cafe owners before announcing the opening of their own in their hometown of Fort Worth. With help from friends and family, they combined their passion for food and love of games to create a space where people could engage with one another in a meaningful manner and create fun memories.

Game Theory opened in the 804 S. Main Street building right next door to Crude Craft Coffee Bar. This adaptive reuse project was recently transformed by Jennifer and Robb Farmer of F5designBUILD. In order to keep the food from interfering in the play, the menu is dominated by hand pies and finger foods made to be eaten with one hand, and creative cocktails along with craft beer.
