Westchester Site Acquired by Cook Children’s
Feb 28, 2019
The future of the land at the corner of 8th Avenue and Pennsylvania, formerly home to the Westchester Plaza building, will now be determined by new owners Cook Children’s Medical Center.
The Westchester Plaza building was imploded in March 2018, clearing the site for future redevelopment. The property is in close proximity to the Cook Children’s campus, and provides a unique opportunity for future development of the medical center.
“We feel good knowing that the Cook team has always set a high standard for design quality at the medical center, and I’m confident that the site's long-term development will meet that same level of quality,” Near Southside, Inc. President Mike Brennan said. “We look forward to working with them as short-term and long-term plans come together.”
