A Taste of Hawaii on Magnolia

Jan 04, 2019

In the middle of winter, Magnolia’s newest restaurant Poke-Poke opened its doors and started serving up a dish inspired by warmer, island weather. Poke is sashimi-grade fish tossed with soy, sesame oil, sesame seeds, and onions, and is a popular Hawaiian treat.

Owners Trish Fortuna and Jason McVearry fell in love with the dish while visiting Hawaii, and opened their first Poke-Poke restaurant in Los Angeles. After finding success there and in Austin, they opened their third Texas location in Fort Worth. According to their website, “The culture, growing food scene, and sense of community in Fort Worth has been an incredible thing to experience.”

Poke Poke took over the space at 1515 W. Magnolia and serve customizable poke bowls with tuna or salmon (vegetarian and beef options also available), rice, and a variety of add-ons like avocado, seaweed salad, sriracha, and macadamia nuts. They also serve Acai Bowls for a tasty and healthy afternoon snack.
