Dickson-Jenkins Holds Grand Opening Celebration
Sep 04, 2018
On Saturday, September 1, the Dickson-Jenkins Lofts & Plaza held their Grand Opening celebration. The event officially marked the openings of Leaves Book & Tea Shop, Record Town, and The Salon Upstairs.
The original Dickson-Jenkins Lofts and Plaza was built in the 1920s. It started as a factory for the Dickson-Jenkins Manufacturing Company, which manufactured farm clothing and apparel. Sometime in the 60s, it was acquired by Branch-Smith Printing, which remained on the property until it was sold and eventually purchased by developer Eddie Vanston.
The Dickson-Jenkins Lofts and Plaza consists of two parts: the three-story historical building and the one story, L-shaped portion that is attached. The top two floors of the three-story portion house the residential lofts. The ground floor is the home for local commercial businesses. The one-story, L-shaped portion of the building is retail and office space.
In addition to Leaves, Record Town, and The Salon Upstairs, a number of other businesses are opening in the Dickson-Jenkins over the next few months:
Art Room Studio
Crittenden the Studio
The Other Studio
