Near Southside’s First Cidery Opens in South Main Village

Nov 06, 2018

The latest business to open in South Main Village is Locust Cider, in the recently reconstructed 710 S. Main Street building.

Locust Cider owners Jason and Patrick Spears grew up in Fort Worth but opened their successful cider business in Washington State. Patrick has since moved back home to run the Fort Worth location, which will produce all kegs distributed in Texas and features a taproom for guests to try the ciders direct from the source.

Locust will have ten rotating taps, including their five core ciders (original dry, dark cherry, honey pear, sweet aged apple, and vanilla bean) along with five seasonals. Food trucks will also be making an appearance.

Although they’re the only cidery, Locust joins a growing community of South Main Village breweries that includes Rahr & Sons Brewing Co., HopFusion Ale Works, Collective Brewing Project, and in 2019, Funky Picnic Brewery and Cafe.
